Privacy Policy

The short version: we collect what we need to run Pano, we don’t sell your data, you control your content, and you can delete your account and data from the app at any time. The details are below.
Pano is a mobile app for sharing widescreen video and replying with your voice. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the Pano iOS app and the pano.fm website (together, the “Service”).

Information we collect
Information you give us
- **Account information** — your email address, and (if you set them) your display name, username, and profile photo. Depending on how you sign in, we receive your email and basic profile from Apple or Google.
- **Content you create** — the videos, photos, audio (including voice reactions, whispers, and direct messages), captions, titles, comments, emoji reactions, and any place or person tags you choose to add.
- **Communications** — messages you send to other users, and anything you send us directly (such as support requests or content reports).
Information from your device (with your permission)
- **Camera and microphone** — used only while you are actively recording in the app, to capture the video and audio you choose to make.
- **Photo library** — accessed only to let you pick existing media to upload, or to save panos you capture back to your camera roll.
- **Approximate location** — used only if you opt to tag where a pano was shot. We pin a place of interest, never your precise GPS coordinates, and only when you add the tag.
- You can grant or revoke each of these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Declining them only disables the related feature.
Information we collect automatically
- **Usage and device data** — basic information such as device type, operating system, app version, and how you interact with features, used to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
- **Diagnostics** — crash and performance data that help us fix bugs.
- We do not use third-party advertising trackers, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
How we use your information
- To provide the Service — host and deliver your content, run your feed, enable replies, reactions, messages, and invites.
- To create and secure your account, and to authenticate you when you sign in.
- To keep Pano safe — detect, review, and act on abuse, spam, and content that violates our Acceptable Use Policy, and to enforce our Terms of Service.
- To process audio and video — for example, generating transcripts and captions, and screening content for safety (see “AI processing” below).
- To communicate with you — service messages, invites, and, where you have opted in, updates about Pano. Every marketing email includes a one-tap unsubscribe.
- To improve and develop the Service, and to comply with our legal obligations.
AI processing
Some features use automated and AI systems — for example, transcribing voice into text, generating captions, and screening uploads for content that may violate our rules. This processing is performed by us and by trusted providers acting on our behalf, and is limited to operating and protecting the Service. We do not sell your content, and we do not authorize providers to use your content to train their own general-purpose models.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited ways:
- **With other users** — content you choose to post or send is visible to its intended audience (for example, a public pano is visible to others; a direct message is visible to its recipient). Your profile name, username, and photo are visible alongside your activity.
- **With service providers** — companies that process data on our behalf under contract, including cloud hosting and storage, authentication (Supabase; Sign in with Apple; Google Sign-In), email delivery (Resend), product analytics, push notifications (Apple Push Notification service), and AI transcription/moderation providers. They may only use the data to provide services to us.
- **For legal and safety reasons** — when we believe in good faith it is necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, safety, and property of our users, the public, or Pano.
- **In a business transfer** — if Pano is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete your account at any time from the app: go to Settings and choose Delete Account. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and content from the Service, except for limited information we are required to retain for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons, and content already shared with or saved by others. Backups are purged on a rolling schedule.

Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or by contacting us at team@pano.fm. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your data and to respond promptly to any incident.
Children
Pano is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at team@pano.fm and we will delete it.
International transfers
We operate in the United States and may process and store information there and in other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
